I have seriously considered getting a dog when I transition to full-time van life, but I still can't decide if one would fit well with the lifestyle.
It's a commitment but can be extremely rewarding. I take my two pups often on day trips and shorter multiple day trips. They both love it as much as my wife and I enjoy do. Our biggest issue is when we stop at a store or restaurant. Usually can't take them in and leaving in vehicle isn't an option. So we normally take turns who goes in and who stays with pups. Works out well most of time. I'm assuming you will be alone most of time so some thought will have to be put into into thier even if you are only gone a short time.

That is exactly my concern. As amazing as it would be to have a furry companion, it would limit many of the things I enjoy doing.
