So a buddy of mine was short on cash and knew I just sold my RV so he offered me, Vanna White, for $1,200 bucks while I was at the bar. So I did what any sane person would and sent him the funds via Venmo without ever seeing it.

Got it towed how a few weeks ago and she def needs some work but has the 7.3 PowerStroke and 6.5-foot headroom clearance inside.

Gonna throw a E4OD new trans in her then see what the plan is after I get her back on the road or what else breaks.

Fiberglass the top to seal out any potential leaks.
I bought a big Chevy cargo van several years for a work van. Looked awesome. On the way home, it rained hard and water POURED in from a roof that looked like swiss cheese with rust holes. (who ever thinks to check the roof for holes in a used vehicle ??).
Looking forward to the "transformation".

what kind of "insulation" does that thing have?
I was up in Cold Country in a -25* sleeping bag on a 3/4" air pad and liked to have froze to death. When I got back home, I put 1" foam insulation board down and 1/2" plywood on top of that then carpet. Never got gold again from the transferred cold from the floor.

The fiberglass roof has pink home insulation with another inside layer of fiberglass, and the doors and panels have been filled with spray foam (great stuff) for now the rest is all bare bones cargo area. The escape hatch could become a fantastic fan or AC unit down the road.

Looks like a great project. How's mechanical, brakes, suspension, engine, tranny, etc? You going for a back road adventure type vehicle. You could make it mechanically sound, seal leaks, make comfortable and leave exterior alone.

7.3 Powerstroke has a tune for up to 400 hp on it and solid Blackstone labs oil report; E4OD trans is shot, so gonna find a cheap used one, it has a decent amount of recent front-end and brake work done recently, and floors, frame, and most of the underside are good, just rusty rockers and dents. I picked up a set of all terrains on 16 Polished aluminum stock Ford Super Duty rims that will go on next. Also picked up a huge Ranch Hand front bumper/push bar that will get welded up front for raming things.

Has a big hitch on it and can two 10k pounds or so since it has the heavy-duty E350 suspension, could also handle a decent amount of living habit and gear in the back if I build it out.

That is what I am thinking; leave it as a hobo-looking van so nobody messes with it or me when boondocking, lol.

I am sure I will find more issues once it warms up and I get her on the road.
