State parks are an excellent option for your road trips, whether you are looking for a place to hang out for the day, overnight, or for a few weeks!
  • Affordable Camping
Camping options are often more affordable than private campgrounds or RV parks. They usually include RV and tent camping sites. Many have full bathrooms nearby and even showers!
  • Stunning Natural Scenery With A Variety Of Activities
State parks are typically natural areas and allow you to enjoy the outdoors. Whether looking for a quiet and peaceful hike, sitting by the campfire, or putting your fishing pole in the water, state parks offer activities that appeal to everyone.
State parks are one of my favorite places to visit. Even if I am just passing through for the day, my Texas State Park Pass allows me unlimited free entry to 89 state parks (although discounted, overnight camping is extra). It is a perfect place to enjoy eating lunch in nature, hiking a trail, or even grabbing a shower. At $70 per year, I can't beat this deal. :)

I highly recommend taking the time to research the US State Parks in your area and throughout your travels.

Florida State Parks on the water are fantastic.

Here are a few of my favorites that I have stayed at.

Coincidentally, our favorite fishing spots are in FL State Parks (and NPS). We get an annual pass and if we are too tired to go back home or the night fishing/shrimping is good, we'll get a spot in the "primative" camping area (close to the outhouse) and just hunker down.
The whole Eastern Florida Seashore offers awesome beachside camping and fishing from Maryland to Key West.

Les, when I first joined the Navy back in '67, I was stationed in Key West. My friend that was maybe 5 years older than me had no family or home, other than the Navy. He was a "True at Heart" biker. He bought a new 1966 Harley (FLH) shovelhead and took 45 days leave and drove his bike from Key West to San Diego, Calif. and back to Key West. He had tons of photos and I envied his trip. That Harley was his Pride & Joy. All of his off time was spent pampering it.
I just recently found out through the military "find a member" that he is somewhere in Daytona Beach. I hope to see him again soon. (He would be about 80 years old now).
Happy Trails !!!

After checking out the links @The Dude shared, I now want to visit Florida, as well.

Took a day trip to Garner State Park this past Sunday.

Here's a video of Park.

And my ride there.

It's a great Park, for a day, for a week or longer. Definitely worth checking out if in the area.
Had great times as a kid going there in the late 1950's and early 1960's. In fact I learned to swim there, which the line "I remember that old Frio river where I learned to swim " happens to be a line from George Strait's "All My Exes Live In Texas". Learned to dance on the pavillion, climbed Mt Baldy. Big part of my childhood. And going to Uvalde where I met and shook hands with John Nance Garner, former VP.
